About the Opportunity

This position provides a fantastic opportunity to work within an established and high performing team at Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals.

The acute physiotherapy educator will be responsible for governance of education and training across the acute physiotherapy team.

The position will coordinate, facilitate and evaluate education and training of physiotherapy staff, including the development of clinical skill and competency within the acute team.

The position will support a strong culture for education and training and provide expert consultation and support to other educators across the entire department.

The educator position will coordinate and facilitate the physiotherapy student clinical education program across the department, with direct supervision of clinical placements within the acute team.

The acute physiotherapy educator position will have extensive experience and expert clinical skills across cardiorespiratory physiotherapy. This could include critical care, cardiology, surgical, respiratory, pulmonary rehabilitation and chronic respiratory disease management. The position will hold a clinical caseload across one of these cardiorespiratory clinical areas.

There will be opportunity to develop strong professional relationships and work collaboratively with other hospitals, universities and research /training entities to lead and support enhancements to education research and practice.


What you'll be doing


The Clinical Educator Physiotherapist is responsible for supervising student placements as well as leadership, management and development of student placements across the department.

This includes providing clinical and administrative leadership, the monitoring of professional standards, workforce planning, clinical practice development, safety and quality and the development of, implementation and evaluation of physiotherapy care.

  • Extensive clinical specialty experience including demonstrated advanced practice skills and management of a complex cardiorespiratory physiotherapy caseload.
  • Demonstrated extensive clinical education skills and experience including the management and coordination of student placements.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing clinical leadership, consultation, supervision and education for staff and/or students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and ability to implement evidence based practice.
  • Demonstrated leadership, skills and experience in the planning and implementation of quality improvement, research and service development activities.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build partnerships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to work independently and as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team.
