About the role


The Performance Based Standards (PBS) team administers the PBS scheme, a world-leading alternate compliance approach to heavy vehicle design and construction that encourages high productivity vehicles to be designed and built based on performance rather than on compliance with prescriptive standards.

- contributing to business improvement initiatives that can reduce the regulatory burden on the NHVR and the heavy vehicle industry.
- providing technical advice to the Manager (Vehicle Safety and Performance), Chief Engineer and senior management about technical issues relating to the PBS scheme.
- managing relationships with accredited assessors and certifiers and vehicle operators.


These are
2 temporary part time positions at 19 hours per week until 30 June 2025. Working with a friendly team, we offer a supportive hybrid work environment with flexible work from home arrangements.

About You
You will be supported in a close-knit team and will carry out your duties in accordance with directions/instructions.

You will be systems savvy - show and impress us with your advanced MS Excel skills - and show passion for the interpretation of vehicle designs and data.

Your ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and under pressure to successfully deliver multiple priorities within timeframes will be crucial to your success.

You will also demonstrate ability to think outside the box and offer alternative solutions where appropriate.


Whilst technical or engineering knowledge relating to vehicle design, construction and maintenance is desirable, it is certainly not mandatory as you will be provided sufficient on-the-job training to perform at the optimum.

Your ability to learn new technology and grasp new concepts in this regulatory focused environment will be critical.
