About the role


The baggage handling system of an airport is a vital piece of equipment responsible for ensuring a successful passenger experience and, ultimately, the reputation and satisfaction of airports and airlines.


As a Mechanical Technician, with years of field experience will make up an essential part of the Team at Perth Airport, ensuring the equipment's effective ongoing operations and maintenance.


Key to your daily program will be to perform diagnostic testing, develop, implement, and escalate electrical maintenance plans, troubleshoot malfunctions, faults and breakdowns and perform repairs to help keep our system fully functional.

Working as part of a dedicated team, your key functions will include:

  • Install and perform diagnostic tests on the baggage handling systems.
  • Develop, implement, and escalate mechanical maintenance plans as appropriate to prevent costly equipment breakdowns.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical malfunctions, faults, baggage jams and breakdowns and performing the necessary repairs to restore full functionality.
  • Documenting processes and maintaining mechanical service records.
  • Monitoring the availability of parts and replenishing supplies supported by the procurement team.
  • Optimise mechanical efficiency by adjusting machinery and equipment settings.
  • Proactive day to day monitoring and reporting on system performance and operational activities.
  • Assist and support team technicians with operational duties for smooth handover of shifts.
  • Maintaining a tidy work environment and adhering to industry regulations.

Your qualifications and experience will include:

  • A mechanical trade qualification.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of system fall back procedures.
  • A broad knowledge of Baggage Handling Systems and Passenger Boarding Bridges.
  • Knowledge on Fault diagnostics
  • Demonstrated skills in carrying out various electrical tasks, including renewals, repairs and maintenance.
  • Previous experience in working to various scheduled that include preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to work a rotating shift.
  • Current full driver's license or Airside driver's license.
