Position Information:

Located in the Mooney Mooney Network, Mount Colah Public School is a dynamic K-6 school established in 1953. The school is situated in a bushland setting, north of Hornsby. Mount Colah Public School current has 469 students. The NESB background of the school community is 8%. The Family Occupation and Education Index (FOIE) is 33. Selection Criteria:


  • In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with a demonstrated capacity to work successfully with the leadership team, balancing exemplary teaching with the demands and complexities of a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience to initiate, lead, evaluate and support evidence-based programs with expert curriculum knowledge and the capacity to lead curriculum change.
  • Success in leading whole school initiatives as part of a cohesive leadership team to meet the needs of a diverse learning community and School Improvement targets.
  • Proven approachable, visible leadership with evidence of exceptional interpersonal skills to lead learning and wellbeing initiatives.

General Selection Criteria:


  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning 6.
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
