    Job description:
  • An exciting opportunity to provide comprehensive and high quality administrative support and coordination as a key member of the Government Relations and Strategic Policy team.

The Government Relations and Strategic Policy Unit (GRaSP) collaborates across the Department of Health on the development of strategic and aspirational policy at a Tasmanian Government and Ministerial level, including reforms and issues with national, intergovernmental, whole-of-government, whole-of-agency and cross agency implications.


The Policy and Executive Support Officer is a key member of the GRaSP team, working under direction to support all members of the team with written advice, reports, documentation and projects and providing comprehensive and high quality administrative support and coordination.


The Policy and Executive Support Officer will support the preparation of Ministerial and Departmental advice including Cabinet, Ministerial and Departmental Minutes, briefings, correspondence and Ministerial Council and other meeting packages.


The Role:


  • Provide input into high level, strategic advice regarding government relations and strategic policy issues for the portfolio Ministers, Secretary, Agency and other stakeholders.
  • Support the Agency's role in intergovernmental forums, including analysis of issues, development of briefing material and recommendations, and coordination of meeting packages.
  • Liaise with stakeholders in the Department of Health, other Agencies, other levels of Government and outside of Government.
  • Provide input into the development and maintenance of practices and procedures to support the work of GRaSP, including in relation to the work of Ministerial Councils and other intergovernmental forums and reporting mechanisms.
  • Provide high level executive support to the General Manager and Managers of GRaSP, including the provision of reception services, preparation of correspondence, organisation and scheduling of meetings and travel, and maintenance of diaries where required.
