The Western Force is a professional rugby union team based in Western Australia competing in the elite Super Rugby Pacific and Super W competitions.


As an organisation, the Force has a proud history, having been formed in 2004 and making its Super Rugby debut in 2006 at its original home, Subiaco Oval.

Backed by Tattarang, the club operates at the highest level of sporting professionalism in Western Australia and has a strong presence nationally and internationally.


Job Description:


About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Communications and Media professional with a sporting background and understanding of Rugby Union to join our team.


Reporting to the General Manager Business Operations, this is a unique opportunity to support a professional sporting team, whilst also being connected with the wider Tattarang family and its partnerships.

You will be part of a forward-thinking and inclusive organisation that is passionate about empowering its people.


As the Communications and Media Lead you will be responsible for all media requirements and communication channels, and ultimately broadening the Club's media exposure.


Your key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Writing and editing content for media, management of eDM and content creation, and contribution on campaigns as required.
  • Leading and managing media relations and club announcement strategies to maximise coverage.
  • Develop, release and 'go to air 'on all media, team, player and partnership announcements.
  • Implement and monitor communication plans for campaigns.
  • Provide valued insight on channel content to enhance the brand and ensure effective message delivery.
  • Manage issue management stakeholder list and engagement/ communication flow.
  • Establish and maintain effective and longlasting relationships with directors, team management and corporate staff, external agencies, media, suppliers, stakeholders, and the teams as required.

Qualifications:


About You

You will be a team player with outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and a high degree of confidentiality and sensibility. Experience in a similar role where you have established and maintained long lasting relationships with internal and stakeholders will ensure your success.


Your strengths will include:

  • Formal Education in Medial and/ or Communications ideally with minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Sporting industry background and a thorough understanding of Rugby Union.
  • Competency in new digital technology and website Content Management Systems.
  • Ability to analyse issues, evaluate solutions and develop conclusions and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experience building and implementing communication plans, and excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Willingness to work outside of regular working hours.
