The Authorised Deposit-taking Institutions Strategic Insights (ADI SI) team, part of APRA's Data Analytics and Insights function, is expanding to support the delivery of APRA's strategy of enabling data-driven decision making.

We are recruiting for a new Manager role to help lead the successful delivery of this organisational strategy, which comprises:


  • Collect
  • collaborating with industry and other key stakeholders to design, build and implement richer, deeper data collections;
-
Curate - uplifting of APRA's data architecture, data governance and data analytics capabilities; and
-
Convey - strengthening the delivery of banking industry insights, internally and externally, to enhance APRA's supervisory and policy outcomes.

The ADI SI team plays a critical role in APRA's corporate strategy to drive greater data-enabled decision-making.

This unique team provides expertise in banking data, with core responsibilities of identifying and assessing industry risks, monitoring industry trends and informing APRA's supervision and policy decisions.

The team also plays an integral role in APRA's data collections.

In particular, the team has key responsibilities in designing, building, and implementing APRA's five-year data transformation program, which aims to achieve richer and more flexible data collections.

For the banking industry, this will involve exploring and testing new and innovative approaches for collecting broader and more granular data sets - a step-change in APRA's data strategy.


As a Manager, you will lead a team of high-performing and driven individuals to produce and present quality forward-looking analysis and insights, lead engagements with senior internal and external stakeholders (including external agencies and regulated entities) and influence key supervisory and policy decisions.

You will also confidently engage with these stakeholders on data collections, including in roundtables and working groups, to co-design, build and implement data collections for the banking industry.


  • Strong experience in, or deep knowledge of, the banking industry.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to manipulate data to develop meaningful insights
  • Creative, strategic and adaptive problem solver.

Comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity:
self-sufficient and capable of plotting a path through complex problems

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively with senior internal and external stakeholders; and
  • Experience in SAS EG (SQL), R and/or Power BI is desirable.
