Overview
- The Medical Scribe contributes to the efficient operation of patient services within the Division of Paediatric Medicine of the Women's and Children's Hospital. The Medical Scribe is under the direct supervision of a Medical Consultant and undertakes tasks allocated by the Medical Consultant or their delegates, such as a Registrar.
- Accompanying the Medical Consultant or their delegate whilst they assess a patient and document assessment findings into Sunrise (verified by relevant consultant or delegate).
- Once blood has been taken by the appropriate staff member, collecting these samples and sending them for analysis after blood investigation requests have been ordered by the Medical Consultant or their delegate.
- Checking the availability of pathology and radiology results, and reporting these to the Medical Consultant.
- Assisting in preparing discharge letters.
- Other ad hoc duties that might be requested by the Medical Consultant and that are within the scope of the role.

The hospital has 295 beds. The hospital's paediatric and adolescent wards cater for all paediatric specialties. Women's wards provide antenatal, gynaecology, neonatal and postnatal care.
