The Opportunity
As our
Gardener / Greenkeeper your primary role will be to maintain Maitland City Council's Recreation Assets including ovals, parks, gardens and playgrounds by providing turf and horticultural maintenance services aligned with Council's Recreation Asset Management plan.
Working with a small team, and in collaboration with the broader Recreation Works group, you will provide expertise in horticultural and sports turf maintenance.
You will operate plant and equipment, including various ride on mowers, tractors, whipper snippers, and hedge trimmers. You will be a key player in maintaining and improving the Maitland LGA appearance.
As a valued member of our outdoor team, you will maintain a high level of safety at all times and have a commitment to delivering a high standard of work for your local community.
You
To be successful in this role you will have a Certificate III in Horticulture (or related discipline) and have contemporary industry knowledge and experience in turf maintenance and surface preparation, gardening as well as a good understanding of safety, environmental and quality management practices.
As a qualified tradesperson you will have passion for the horticultural/turf management industry with exceptional knowledge and practical experience in these fields.
Having the following licences/tickets is not essential, but would be highly regarded:- WHS General Construction Induction (essential prior to commencing work)
- HR Driver's Licence
- Traffic Control & Implement Traffic Control Plans
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current Chemical Use Certificate
- Current Work Safely Near Powerlines
Benefits
We have two permanent full-time roles available with a salary on offer of up to $70,073 per year (inclusive of current overtime arrangement and adverse working condition allowance) based on demonstrated competencies + 10.5% p.a.
