AUSTRALIA - Innovation and Research Manager M/W


This role will lead Naval Groups participation in the Joint French Australian Research Laboratory CROSSING, and participate in collaborative research projects aligned with their technical expertise.

They will also have oversite of all Naval Group Pacific research projects in Australia.

Reporting to the Technical Direction of Naval Group, the role will be required to liaise with all stakeholders, including research collaboration partners both academic and industry, Naval Group domain leads, Naval Group personnel both in Australia, France and other international sites, as well as suppliers.

The applicant will actively participate in research projects, as well as oversee the monitoring for Naval Group Pacific projects.

The position will involve a two year placement, based in Adelaide, before returning to a technical leadership role in Naval Group in France.


Responsibilities:


  • Act as the Naval-Group technical lead with CROSSING project partners, working onsite, which includes partner laboratories, and liaising with Naval Group experts in France as require for project success.
  • Actively participate in CROSSING project work, as a researcher, with partners.
  • Provide regular progress reports to stakeholders, as well as participate (and lead when appropriate) in project progress meetings and reviews.
  • Assist international visitors with visit planning and logistics, including arranging necessary site inductions and safety briefings.
  • Act as the correspondent of Naval Group SA R&D. Receive and participate in regular briefings on studies and proof of concept activities carried out during the year by Naval Group SA., and to identify new requirements or Australian context that may be of interest to the network in Naval Group SA.
  • Supervise Naval Group Pacific technical personnel, including VIE placements.
  • Provide local leadership in Australia, representing Naval Group.
  • Development of Naval Group Pacific Technical Strategy, in coherence with the Corporate technical strategy.
Some international and domestics travel will be required.


The position may be based in Adelaide, and may be required from to work from time to time from partner sites as well as Naval Group sites internationally.

Profile:

The successful applicant will have a technical qualification in a scientific or engineering discipline, with knowledge or experience in at least one of the following areas:

  • Human Factors,
  • Robotics and Autonomous Systems,
  • Data Science or Signal Processing,
  • Software Development,
  • Machine Learning.
He/She'll have a fluent professional english level both verbal and written
