About the role


This position is responsible for the operation and management of Council's flood early warning system (called FloodSmart) and with all remote telemetry equipment and systems associated with Council's declared dams.

You will maintain external partner and Stakeholder engagement and maintaining Memorandum of Understanding agreements and responsible for the preparation of detailed project briefs for investigation and expansion of Council's Telemetry and flood warning system, as required

On a daily basis you will:

  • Provide professional and specialist technical advice and guidance on the collection gauges and telemetry system set-up, maintenance and operation.
  • Provide technical expertise in identifying and troubleshooting faults in equipment and system operations and errors in rain and flood data information collection.
  • Organise and manage post event reviews and analysis of recorded flood events and flood warning system performance.
  • Improve environment and sustainability outcomes through innovation including new SCADA system projects.

About You
It would be preferred but not essential for applicants to have:

  • Extensive experience in telemetry and flood warning systems, good knowledge in Flood Emergency Management and in Floodplain Risk Management.
  • Recognised Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, systems engineering or other relevant technical qualification in electronic systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in software systems such as SCDA, LIZARD and Environmon, selfmanagement, strong verbal and written communication.

We are offering an attractive total remuneration from $128,725 to $141,703 (salary + super).
