About the role:


The purpose of the role is to be the primary liaison point between Aurizon Network and its rollingstock operators (RSO).

This role supports the Customer Account Team responsible by leading key relationships with RSO technical managers to ensure RSOs can run safety and efficiently on the Aurizon Network.

This role coordinates the management of interface issues between RSOs and the Network including operational, asset management and safety items.

This role coordinates the approvals required for RSOs to operate safely on the Network and arranges for any non-standard arrangements to facilitate the movement of goods on the network.


Key requirements include:


  • Understanding of (or ability to learn) Network's technical standards, safety management systems and operational principals.
  • Ability to build relationships with RSO technical counterparts while supporting the Customer Account Manager
  • Strong organisational ability to coordinate approvals, processes and documents required.
  • Stakeholder management skills and ability to work closely with internal teams to guide processes and approval to completion.

Key responsibilities include:


Customer Relationship management:

  • Responsibility for interface with RSO Tech Specialist Manager or equivalent
  • Chair the triannual Coal Rail Operators Working Group
  • Manage the fortnightly Temporary Speed Restriction prioritisation meeting with RSOs.
  • Subject Matter Expert within customer team to support CAM/Cal end user relationships on rollingstock interface and other operational interface matters.
Process Management

  • Rollingstock interface approvals (TRA)
  • Nonstandard rollingstock temp approvals (ATT)
  • Rollingstock recovery authority coordination and customer interface as required.
  • Rollingstock registration process management
  • Operator Interface Risk Management Plan document management
  • Operating plan review and approval process
  • Technical review process for other activities (provisioning locations, stowage and storage, wayside equipment requests)
