About the opportunity


The Communications Advisor will have responsibility for creating content in a consistent tone of voice and flow through to social channels.

The Communications Advisor will report to and work with the Senior Communications Manager to develop and execute communications across a variety of digital channels.

It will be highly visible across the enterprise and coordinated with stakeholders and working groups across all areas of the business, in order to deliver on Australia Post's commercial and strategic objectives.


The Communications Advisor will work to implement and bring to life AP's positions and decisions through engaging content and activities delivered by the Enterprise Communications, PR, Media and Business Unit Communications team.

Critical to this role will be working collaboratively across the enterprise and business teams.

You will build effective relationships at all levels of the business and develop a deep understanding of business needs and stakeholder audiences.


You'll be responsible for:


  • Develop, implement and generate proactive 'good news' stories for the organisation profiling people, new product and key milestones to enhance the reputation of Australia Post
  • Help deliver on the Communications strategy and think about strategic initiatives that will improve communication for our team members
  • Build trusted relationships with leaders across the entire business, prepare briefs, messaging and presentations as needed
  • Support key enterprise projects and initiatives by developing and advising on communications approaches to enhance team member and stakeholder engagement
  • Identify opportunities to leverage media and Executive thought leadership to promote internally and encourage team members to share with their networks
  • Manage the effectiveness of AP Communication Channels, leverage new and existing channels to support strategic objectives
  • Participate in enterprisewide project teams on business continuity issues and responses

About you


You are a communications specialist, action-oriented, creative, good at writing in short and snappy ways, and enjoy campaign style communication.

You are organised, efficient, adaptable and have a solution-focused attitude.

You're inquisitive, proactive, eager to get stuff done, and enjoy building strong relationships with team members and stakeholders across the business.


What are we looking for?

  • Approximately 4+ years experience as a communications professional in a large, complex and highly regulated organisation
  • Experience in developing, executing and evaluating communication plans
  • Understanding of a wide variety of communication channels and techniques, including digital communications
  • Experience in working for organisations in the retail or logistics industry that have a geographically spread workforce is preferred but not essential
  • Natural curiosity about issues and developments about current news issues, and in the broader community sociopolitical environment
