THE OPPORTUNITY

The department is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to join a small team to enhance the policy and procedures supporting the delivery of rehabilitation and return to work services to the staff.

The Rehabilitation Policy Officer will have knowledge of rehabilitation and return to work, in particular as it relates to the Comcare scheme and the
_Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988_.

The Rehabilitation Policy Officer works closely with the EL1 Rehabilitation and Staff Support Unit (RSSU) to delivery policy and procedures to support the operational RSSU team members, including interpretation, implementation, and ongoing improvements to the Rehabilitation Management System.

  • You possess highly developed written and interpersonal communication skills with experience in delivering high level written work including policy, procedures, and other governance materials.
  • You have a demonstrated ability to work with a range of stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, both internal and external, and to adapt your communication style to a range of audiences.
  • You have welldeveloped knowledge of the Comcare worker's compensation scheme with demonstrated understanding of legislation and policy relevant to rehabilitation case management, specifically the_ Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988_ (SRC Act) and other relevant legislation.
  • You have demonstrated experience with rehabilitation management frameworks, systems, and processes.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV of Injury Management or similar.

  • Completion of Comcare Rehabilitation Case Management training

  • Greater than 12 months experience in a rehabilitation related role

KEY DUTIES

  • Undertake policy and procedure development and implementation relevant to rehabilitation and the Comcare scheme.
  • Provide advice on policy interpretation to the operational members of the RSSU and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with delivering the Early Intervention & Rehabilitation Strategy and reporting on progress against the strategy Action Plan.
  • Undertake regular case compliance audits of rehabilitation cases to determine opportunities for improvement for the RSSU Team and individual Rehabilitation Case Managers.
  • Liaise with members of the RSSU on the results of the case compliance audits, including the maintenance and reporting of an ongoing Corrective Action Plan to the Director.
  • Assist with the biannual Rehabilitation Management System audits via external service providers and implementation of recommendations, particularly as they relate to team policy, procedures, guides and templates.
  • Set and meet work priorities to ensure competing demands are prioritised to achieve personal, team and the organisational goals and objectives.
  • Work effectively in a small fast paced team with competing priorities.
