Your Opportunity


As the Compliance and Audit Specialist at Mission Australia, you will be responsible for improving business performance and service quality by identifying areas of potential improvement through audit and ensuring agreed audit actions are implemented.


This role will see you work enterprise wide, building strong relationships with internal and external customers, ensuring we are meeting our external obligations, regulations, legislation, industry best practice and all standards, policies, and procedures.


Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Preparation of audit tools, plans, and resources for the purposes of conducting and documenting internal audits
  • Conducting risk based audits of Mission Australia service delivery and Shared Services as scheduled to test key controls and determine compliance with legislation, regulations, policies, and relevant standards
  • Conducting walkthrough tests of Mission Australia backofhouse Shared Services as planned in the Mission Australia Assurance Schedule
  • Support Mission Australia's fraud control strategies including conducting related audits, investigations and other compliance projects
  • Conduct audits of programs in preparation for external certification
  • Review and analyse findings and recommendations from external certification and licensing to strengthen service delivery
  • Develop positive relationships with internal stakeholders to influence compliance, effectively implement changes and projects, and improve understanding of compliance requirements

Requirements for Success

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications e.g. Auditing, Economics, Finance, Risk Management
  • Knowledge and/or experience in corporate services in an audit and/or compliance capacity
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the notforprofit or social services sector
  • Familiarity and working in accordance with risk management, compliance and auditing standards
  • Ability to develop sound internal and external working relationships and networks
  • Effective communication and active listening skills, demonstrating the ability to present information, decision and reasons confidently, clearly, and concisely selecting the appropriate medium.


Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
