About the role


As the Safety Framework and Systems Specialist, you will be part of the Workplace Safety and Wellbeing Team and will be responsible for overseeing safety and wellbeing system performance and compliance for Ipswich City Council.

Your main focus will be on leading the development, review and continuous improvement of the Workplace Safety and Wellbeing Management System to all business units within Council.


Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing effective relationships and directly engaging with operational and corporate leaders providing advice and support on WSW performance and compliance
  • Providing specialised knowledge to support the continual improvement of WSW management systems and processes using a riskbased methodology and in accordance with Council policies and values
  • Participate in routine and targeted WSW inspections and or provision of specialist WSW support to other business units conducting inspections
  • Participate in WSW audits and / or provision of specialist WSW support to Branches/Sections conducting audits

About you
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • An excellent fit with our values of communication, collaboration, integrity, efficiency, and leadership
  • Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety, or substantial experience to carry out the range of duties required
  • Investigation training/qualification
  • Internal Auditor Certification (WHS preferable)

This is a permanent position, Level 6 with a salary package commencing at $97,134 plus superannuation of up to 12.25%.
