You will join a team that is dedicated to delivering sustainable high performance from Prelude's production systems.

This is achieved through gaining a deep understanding of complex, technical problems that the asset is facing and improving equipment design, operation and maintenance care strategies to address the identified causes.


The team is responsible for:

  • Understanding the true root causes for production threats and system underperformance through facilitating investigations.
- "Connecting the dots" to comprehensively understand the cause-and-effect relationship of threats that may have origins or impacts outside of a singular assigned system or unit.

  • Effectively communicating key learnings to the Production Teams and Site Leadership.
  • Developing corrective actions to effectively address the identified causes of threats.
  • Actively contributing to the development of sustainable maintenance strategies, which drive overall system reliability improvement.

What's the role?


The position is for an individual with Mechanical Engineering experience, who will become part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, tasked with developing systemic solutions for operational and technical performance problems.


Your accountabilities include:

  • Championing the use of structured investigation within the organization to drive reliability improvement through understanding and addressing the causes that create poor performance.
  • Providing general support to the broader reliability team and asset work processes.
  • Actively participating in all phases on the investigative work and interface with suppliers, vendors, engineering staff and craft as required to understand the design intent of the equipment being analyzed.

You will thrive through:

  • Your broad knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including appropriate design standards, modelling, and investigation techniques.
  • Actively seeking to understand underlying causes of actual or potential undesired performance outcomes.
  • Your skill at analyzing and understanding data and connecting separate data streams together to create a complete picture of the problem.
  • Quickly picking up concepts from outside of core discipline or experience.
  • Your ability to effectively express ideas and transfer knowledge to a broad audience, reason Causally and think in terms of Cause and Effect, share ideas through "inquiry" rather than "advocacy".
  • Strong leadership ability to coordinate and facilitate investigative work.

What we need from you

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Significant mechanical engineering experience
  • Technical degree in engineering preferred.
  • Experience in additional engineering disciplines will be well regarded.
  • LNG and/or Offshore experience will be an advantage.
  • Experience with causebased investigations would be beneficial but is not a requirement as this will be in role development activity.
