Principal Policy Officer- Employment Type: Full Time, Ongoing- 35 hour working week, in a hybrid working environment


About this role

The Principal Policy Officer, Aged Care provides professional and organisational leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic policy frameworks and responses which enable the achievement of the Ministry's planned outcomes, and alignment with broader Government objectives.

This role will lead and manage emerging national aged care reform policy issues as they relate to NSW Health services, along with other aged care policies and programs.


The Principal Policy Officer provides strategic advice to the Director, Aged Care regarding current, evolving or emerging aged care reform policy issues to facilitate executive decision-making and ensure effective planning and program management to deliver against objectives and timeframes, leading a team of policy professionals and drawing on effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Crown Clerk 9/10, salary from $134,411 - $155,445 p.a. (plus super and annual leave loading)

What you'll be doing- Lead and manage the development and evaluation of strategic policies and projects/programs for the Ministry of Health, public health organisations, and related government agencies to support the achievement of NSW Health's objectives.- Research and evaluate aged care reform policies in order to assess and advise on their relevance and their potential impact on Ministry and Government objectives.- Provide sound information and advice on current and emerging aged care reform policy issues to Senior Executives and key staff within the Ministry of Health, public health organisations and related government agencies to ensure issues are satisfactorily resolved or addressed.- Provide advice to support managers to consistently interpret aged care policies and practices.
