What you'll be doing:


An exciting permanent full time opportunity is now available in the role of Chief Operations Assistant in the Operating Theatres at Nepean Hospital.


Your role as the Chief Operations Assistant is responsible for providing overall supervision of the Operations Assistants in the Operating Suite under the direction of the peri-operative Nurse Manager, noting this is a supervisory position which does not hold financial delegation.

Your role, in addition to the regular duties of an Operations Assistant, working as a member of a multi-skilled Operating Theatre team to provide, non-clinical ancillary support to the theatre staff to complement the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient care.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection criteria to be addressed:


  • Relevant qualifications and/or previous experience as a Senior Operations Assistant, with the ability to adapt to the demands of a fastpaced perioperative environment.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills in a service delivery/patient care environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills; the ability to work cohesively within a multidisciplinary team and display conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position as listed in the physical requirements in the position description
  • Demonstrated solid problemsolving, time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Proven ability to provide and maintain a safe workplace environment; with the ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of Work Health and Safety and Safe Work Practices along with displaying an exceptional knowledge of Infection control guidelines and policies.
