We have a senior leadership opportunity within the Planning and Service Performance Division at ANU.

As the Deputy Director, you will strategically lead our Service Solutions and Operations team to ensure successful delivery of a portfolio of projects that support the University's strategic objectives and continue to drive continuous improvement across the ANU.


You will do this through:

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, delivering and managing project portfolios (preferably within a large complex environment)
  • Your ability to build relationships, influence and manage key external and internal stakeholders through excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ensuring high standards of governance and risk management practices are maintained through reporting and adherence to financial and budgetary controls
  • Extensive understanding of operational matters including systems implementation and service delivery
  • Strong analysis and problemsolving skills in order to effectively measure performance of internal processes to ensure the timely delivery of services

Position Overview


This position will lead the Service Solutions Team of 10-12 project professionals, including business analysts, as well as the division's Operations and Capability Development managers.

You will lead and coordinate the team to manage and deliver a range of projects from small to large-scale transformation projects for the University, ensuring that strategic and operational objectives are achieved through best practice and a focus on delivery and agile methodologies.

You will be:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline along with proven expertise and experience in planning, delivering and managing project portfolios within a large complex organisation.
  • A leader and a manager who can think strategically whilst ensuring day to day operational practices and coordination activities are effectively executed.
  • An analytical thinker with an ability to resolve complex situations with an ability to use data to inform decisionmaking.
  • A change agent with an ability to coach, mentor and lead teams to deliver high quality in a timely manner.
