Description
Critical Executive Leadership role

  • Based in Brisbane Northern Suburbs
  • Rapidly growing organisation with a mission that is making a real difference

Mercy Community, a Mercy Partners Catholic Ministry was established by the Sisters of Mercy over 160 years ago, offers community services and support in urban, rural and remote communities throughout Queensland and is moving into NSW.

Over 1,500 employees deliver support to families and young people, people living with disability and the elderly.

All who work with Mercy Community are expected to embrace the mission and ethos of Mercy and demonstrate this through our actions.

As part of an Executive restructure, the GM People and Culture role has been revised to give it broader responsibility for the complex function of people and culture in the community services environment.

Reporting to the CEO, we seek an experienced P& C professional who is capable of being strategic as well as diving into the detail and being hands on.

In the new structure the GM will oversee all typical P&C functions plus internal communications and change management, as well as providing line management to the GM Mission and GM First Nations roles with these functions being intrinsically linked to people and culture.

Key challenges are:

  • To develop and implement a comprehensive P&C strategy that aligns with the company's overall strategy, goals and objectives, whilst taking into consideration the unique needs of each service stream.
  • Managing centralised P&C functions in a way that delights the operational service streams.
  • To become a trusted advisor to senior leaders on all P&C matters, by providing guidance and support that helps them make informed decisions aligned with the overall strategy, goals and values.
  • To be a sensitive and effective leader who supports the unique Mission and First Nations portfolios.
  • Driving major cultural change by creating and maintaining a strong organisational culture that supports the strategy, goals and values; and
  • Ensuring effective systems and data support planning and decision making.

Your success will be measured by the P&C team becoming a trusted, respected team that delivers value and are viewed as being a vital contributor to the growth of Mercy Community This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to make a true difference in a sector of critical importance to society.

The financial rewards for this position are significant and reflect the critical importance the role will play in the delivery of the strategic imperatives.
