The Team

The position of Government and Parliamentary Services Advisor forms a part of the Corporate Services Group and Performance and Governance Branch.

This Branch The branch achieves its goals through a range of activities:

coordinating the department's engagement with ministers' offices and ministerial processes; providing strategic direction for operational initiatives to ensure accountability and compliance; providing audit and assurance support to minimise risk and ensure compliance; leading and advising on strategic projects across Corporate Services and providing surge support for key operational and business activities in Corporate Services.

The Role

The Government and Parliament Services Advisor reports to the Senior Advisor in the Government and Parliamentary Services (GPS) Unit in the in the Corporate Services Group.

The role supports the parliament team in the delivery coordinate and manage of key department systems including maintenance and enhancements.

Support the department's Public Accounts and Estimates (PAEC) responsibilities including other government and parliament responses ensuring the department and its agencies across the portfolio are delivering efficient, high quality, timely and coordinated advice to Ministers.

As the role works across GPS, the successful applicant will receive training across the streams of the Unit including in Parliament and Ministerial Services, PAEC and GPS systems.

About You

You will work effectively as part of a team and undertake a wide variety of work including overseeing the liaison between the department, Ministers' Offices and central agencies to effectively support the Secretary and Ministers.


Skills and Attributes for the role:

  • Experience in managing core corporate business systems, processes and templates
  • High level conceptual and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated experience in writing and editing skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Demonstrated experience and alignment with the Department's corporate values
