About the role:


In this role you will offer legal administrative support services to the Civil Justice program, including client intake and coordination, data entry, file management, and systems coordination.

You will conduct intake and triage of client inquiries, in particular in relation to the National Disability Insurance Scheme and matters before the Mental Health Tribunal and provide information and referrals about Victoria Legal Aid's services.

Working as part of a team, you will provide legal administrative support to our lawyers including client data entry, file management, preparation of legal documents and some roles will also include front-desk reception duties.


About Civil Justice:

Victoria Legal Aid's Civil Justice program focuses on civil and administrative law issues affecting human rights and social justice. The sub-programs include Equality Law, Mental Health & Disability Law, and Economic & Social Rights.

The Equality Law program helps individuals facing discrimination, sexual harassment, victimization, or racial or religious vilification in areas such as education, employment, goods or services, accommodation, and sports.

The Mental Health & Disability Law program provides legal advice and representation to individuals with mental health diagnoses or cognitive disabilities, ensuring the protection of their rights under mental health laws.

The Economic and Social Rights program (ESR) assists individuals in resolving legal issues that contribute to poverty and social exclusion.

ESR also assist individuals in accessing the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) when they may have issues doing so on their own.


About you:

You will have experience in providing administrative support, ideally gained within a legal environment. With a strong client service focus, you will professionally support our clients with care and empathy. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills allow you to effectively engage with a broad range of stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you will enjoy the day-to-day challenges of working in a fast paced and high-pressure environment and have sound problem solving skills to support client needs.

You will be a committed team member and be willing to contribute to the promotion of our vision and values.
