A great opportunity has arisen with our national client for a Logistics Manager (Transport Planner/Scheduler) for their Sydney branch.


Ideally from a background of manufacturing planning and multi drop scheduling/delivery, your role will be to manage the drivers, coordinators and schedulers.

You will also be analysing the delivery efficiencies through data analysis.


Different to a lot of logistics roles, this position is predominately in the office, going out with drivers when required.


The Role:


  • Lead the logistics team to achieve efficient delivery processes and cost efficiencies
  • Forward planning of the logistics department proactively catching any delivery issues before they happen
  • Regular analysis of all deliveries/truck movements to enable a smooth planning process, not just end of day audits
  • Monitoring, auditing and reporting on delivery targets whilst working closely with the sales team and customers to achieve results
  • Working closely with a team of schedulers, yard people and drivers to ensure smooth route run and cost efficiencies
  • Ensuring all relevant information is provided to the fleet controllers to ensure that container detention is not incurred
  • Excellent understanding of multi drop/milk runs and bulk deliveries
  • Staff Training
  • Development and implementation of policies and procedures
  • DG transportation/scheduling experience a bonus
  • Manage the efficiencies of the logistics department
  • Manage, coach and mentor a small team from schedulers, yard people to drivers including contract drivers
  • Oversee the logistics processes/procedures to ensure a smooth process from receipt of order through to delivery of products
  • Ensure the accuracy of deliveries and
  • Be customer focused.
  • Manage the safety of the yard and your team
  • Ensure all vehicles are serviced and kept in a roadworthy condition

To be Successful:


  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Ideally you will have excellent planning skills with manufacturing planning a definite advantage
  • Ensure legislative guidelines are adhered to
  • Essentially have experience with swap and go scheduling, together with yard, driver and delivery experience
  • Experience with creating, implementing and training staff on new policies and procedures
  • Experience managing contract drivers
  • Be computer literate with transport management systems and their integrations. MS Office Suite.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail
Work days Monday to Friday, with a Saturday from time to time during peak periods and when absolutely necessary. Hours could start at 4am.
