The opportunity
Our client is a community focused federal government agency. They have an exciting opportunity available for a
Policy Officer to join the current team in providing specialist advice within the bounds of Community focused change & inter-Governmental relations

12-month initial Labour Hire contract with the opportunity to extend.

APS6 level role paying an hourly rate of $ Superannuation, to be based out of either
Richmond, Geelong, Brisbane, Sydney or Canberra.


This is a
hybrid position offering 2 days working from home, with the remaining 3 on site. 37.5-hour work weeks, with 8-hour days expected.


About the role:


The APS6 Policy Officer position will consider complex issues, conduct research, analyse and synthesise information into concise findings to inform policy development.


The role will coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management, whilst engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders and representing the Branch in various forums.


The APS6 Policy Officer will generally work within areas of specialisation, including health, child protection and family support, justice, transport and education.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Interpreting, drafting and reviewing policy and procedural issues within specialist areas
  • Contributing to the planning and implementation of Agency policies and objectives
  • Drafting reports, briefing papers, speeches, Ministerial correspondence and discussion papers
  • Conducting research and analysis to inform policy development
  • Tailoring written and verbal communications for a variety of audiences, providing advice on complex issues
  • Identifying emerging issues across mainstream interfaces and suggesting potential solutions

About you

Australian citizenship is a requirement to be eligible for this position:

  • Experience writing policy in professional settings
  • Highly polished written & verbal communication
  • Experience writing executive briefs
  • The ability to independently analyse data & information
