ABOUT THE BRANCH & SECTION


The Future Made in Australia Office (the Office) is responsible for coordinating delivery of the Australian Government's election commitments under the Buy Australian Plan.

The Office is driving engagement with Australian businesses and industry groups to maximise opportunities to participate in Australian Government procurement and contracts.

The Office is implementing procurement reform through three streams of activity:

  • Governance and Coordination
  • Procurement and Contract Management Capability
  • Commonwealth, State and Industry Engagement.


Advertised roles will be within the Commonwealth, State and Industry Engagement team, which is focused on outreach and engagement with businesses and state and territory counterparts.


The team is working to improve industry awareness of opportunities to sell to the Australian Government, and uplift the capability of businesses, including small and medium enterprises, Indigenous businesses and regional businesses, to participate in Australian Government procurement processes.

Applications are strongly encouraged from outside of the Australian Public Service.

The main priorities for the team include:

  • Ongoing development, improvement, and promotion of resources and content providing information to businesses on Australian Government procurement processes and requirements
  • Ongoing design and delivery of training resources and tools for businesses, which will include learning events and workshops, and digital learning content
  • Ongoing engagement, including through attendance at industry events and trade fairs, to improve awareness of opportunities to sell to the Australian Government, and provide information to small and medium enterprises, Indigenous businesses and regional businesses
  • Ongoing engagement with state and territory counterparts to identify opportunities for better practice and support economic and social outcomes.

OPPORTUNITY


The Commonwealth, State and Industry Engagement team in the Future Made in Australia Office is seeking a Strategic Communications Officer at the APS6 level to support business and industry engagement, communications and marketing activities which relate to Australian Government procurement and contracting.


The Strategic Communication Officer will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of sponsorships for industry events and trade shows
  • Representing the Department of Finance at trade shows and industry expositions to provide information and advice to businesses, industry organisations and key intermediaries on Australian Government procurement opportunities and available resources (including interstate travel)
  • Supporting the design, development, publication and delivery of industryfocused marketing content, including engaging content for the Selling to Government website ), physical collateral and event packs, and audiovisual content
  • Assisting with development and implementation of strategically focused stakeholder management and communications activities
  • Working proactively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including from other government entities and industry

All Finance staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
