    About the role


Ventia's contract with the Department of Justice are seeking an engaging and perceptive
Principal Contracts Officer to join the Court Security & Custodial Services team based in Canning Vale, Western Australia.

Whilst this is a local role, you will be expected to occasionally travel to locations throughout Western Australia where required.


In this role you will be responsible for driving compliance with policies and procedures to improve quality and efficiencies, inclusive of auditing and the analysis of data.

You will also assist with governance across all legal and contractual requirements along with investigative work following any serious/critical incidents or identified issues.


About you


Reporting into the Contract Compliance and Commercial Manager, you are a motivated and highly organised professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You have strong attention to detail and your well-developed experience gained in a compliance or auditing role will see you do well in this role.


Key duties but not limited to:

  • Drive the implementation of management strategies, policies, and procedures
  • Manage and report appropriate metrics for measuring contract performance (e.g., KPI's and Specified Events)
  • Collect, collate, review and submit mitigation submission for Operational Services are not delivered or have failed
  • Regularly review and evaluate operational procedures and ensure all are reviewed and up to date and there is adherence to policies and regulations
  • Provide specialist advice, operational and managerial support as required
  • Monitor contract compliance with company's policies and procedures in relation to legal, commercial and administration matters
  • Relieves the Contract Compliance and Commercial Manager in their absence
  • Provides advice and ensures the delivery of processes to ensure operations are managed in accordance with the contract, legislative requirements, policies, and procedures
  • Establish and report appropriate metrics for measuring contract performance
  • Prepare and report on contract progress, performance information and recommendations for incorporation into operations
  • Perform operational and commercial audits, and where required, implement corrective actions
  • Other duties as required in accordance with strategic objectives, business plans, local workload priorities and performance management plans

Skills and experience:


  • Tertiary qualification in Business or Commerce (or currently studying) and/or relevant experience in a complex and fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret contracts, legislations, and regulations
  • Advanced computer literacy (SAP, MS Office)
  • Welldeveloped organisational skills, ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines to resolve issues and deliver quality outcomes
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to analyse, interpret and present data
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborative and consultative processes at a professional level, engaging within contract and client groups
  • Ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholder
