About the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre

Founded 20 years ago, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is Australia's largest human rights organisation providing support to people seeking asylum.

We are an independent not-for-profit organisation whose programs support and empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well being.

About The Role

ASRC Catering delivers a range of corporate and community catering services and the provision of a business to consumer meals program.

Food and Beverage Attendant will be responsible for all aspects of kitchen preparation and cleanliness, and stock maintenance as well as adhering to safety protocols.

About You

The Food and Beverage Attendant will bring to the position a passion to work in the ASRC kitchen and some hospitality experience.

The following skills and experience are also essential to be successful in this position:


  • Lived experience of seeking asylum in Australia
  • Cooking experience
  • Cleaning experience hospitality, domestic or commercial experience accepted
  • Valid RSA requirements and certificate (or the capacity to obtain this certificate)
  • Attention to detail with the ability to manage time effectively
  • Good communication skills with experience in customer service
  • Ability to follow cleaning instructions
  • Time management and hospitality or customer service experience
  • Willingness to learn and be part of a team
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse groups
  • Genuine authenticity in wanting to further the career development and work experience of staff, including staff with lived experience of seeking asylum
  • Selfmotivated individual with a passion for the goals and values of the ASRC
  • The ability to adapt and contribute to growing and developing work environments
  • A resourceful and innovative approach to work
