About the role
As Relief Coordinator, you will assist the Supervisor in the coordination, direction and monitoring of staff and works. You will effectively lead staff involved in programmed works and ensure Parramatta's Public domain is maintained and improved to enhance the appearance of the city and to promote Parramatta as Australia's next great city

On a daily basis you will:

  • Coordinate, monitor, allocate and undertake the full range of cleansing activities.
  • Ensure the Parramatta CBD and other highprofile locations throughout the LGA are cleaned and maintained to a high standard.
  • Ensure compliance with all WHS policies, procedures and responsibilities are met by the team.
  • Backfill all roles and duties within the team as required. Including but not limited to, operating mechanical street sweeper, rear load garbage compactor, public amenities cleaning, illegal dump collection, assisting with emergency works.
  • Implementing work practices in line with waste and cleansing industry
  • Provision of afterhours response to operational or emergency situations
You will be starting and finishing at Council's Rydalmere Operations Depot or Council's Wentworth Street Compound Parramatta as required.


About You
The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in a similar role with proven experience successfully leading a team.

You will have previous experience with the operation of specialist plant equipment including mechanical street sweepers, garbage compactors and pressure cleaning units.


Experience:


  • Relevant extensive experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team successfully
  • Mechanical street sweeper
  • Rear load garbage compactor
  • Competent understanding of small and heavy plant operations applicable to Cleansing Services

Skills:


  • Proven customer service skills
  • Good interpersonal, written and oral communication
  • Welldeveloped ability to coordinate the work activities of a team, monitor work rosters and plan daily work routines
  • Superior capacity to adapt to changing priorities

Qualifications:


  • Current NSW Driver's Licence (Minimum MR Class or higher)
  • Construction industry certificate "White Card"
It would be preferred but not essential for applicants to have:

  • Certificate IV frontline management
  • Current blue/yellow traffic control licence
  • Current WorkCover approved forklift licence (LF)
  • Power Line Awareness training
  • Asbestos Awareness training

What's on offer:

This position is a permanent part-time role 4 days per week.

The required days, hours and duties are:

Friday & Monday:11:30am-8:00pm**:


  • Undertaking relief duties as required by Council's Afternoon Cleansing Team
-
Saturday & Sunday:1:30pm-9:00pm**:


  • Coordinator of a small team of 4 staff (including this position). Overseeing & undertaking cleansing of the Parramatta CBD & other highprofile locations throughout the LGA.
We are offering a (Pro-Rata) salary range of $73,354.81 to $80,782.59 per annum plus 11% superannuation


Position
may attract an extra shift penalty in addition to the ordinary hourly rate of pay for the actual time worked in accordance with the Local Government Award 2023.
