About the team


Our Network Assets and Assurance (NA&A) team includes more than 2000 people from Infrastructure, Innovation, Engineering, Rolling Stock, OCMS, Strategic Asset Management and Planning and Integration.

The NA&A team manage the change to the network - ensuring that the asset outcome is safe, reliable, and sustainable, both today and into the future.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced People Business Partner to join our team in the Infrastructure department.

About the role


We are currently seeking a skilled People Business Partner with significant experience as an HR generalist in a unionised environment.

In this role, you will be a crucial part of the HR team, collaborating closely with the Infrastructure department to drive people-related strategies, foster a positive workplace culture, deliver cyclical people processes and ensure compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations.

This is a 12 month Max term position.

What you will be doing

  • HR Strategy: Contribute to HR strategies aligned with business objectives, including employee engagement and culture initiatives. Identify and lead process improvement initiatives.
  • Talent Management: Partner with leaders to develop our people and support succession planning. Ensure efficient hiring processes aligned with departmental needs.
  • Performance Management: Implement processes to enhance productivity providing coaching and supporting managers with performance matters.
  • Compliance: Stay updated on employment laws and regulations.
  • Conduct investigations, ensuring policy, enterprise agreement and legal compliance.
About you

  • Bachelor's degree qualified in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience as a HR generalist in a unionised operational environment, preferably in the rail, transportation or manufacturing sector.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws, regulations and enterprise agreements
  • Proven experience in employee relations, talent management, and performance management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive productive relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to attend multiple locations across the Metro network in support of the 24/7 operational environment
