About the Opportunity:


We are currently looking for a Maintenance Mechanical Control Technician orMechanical Maintenance Fitter to join our tight-knit team in our manufacturing site located at West Footscray.

You will be central to the improvement of plant OEE generally across the three plants at WF, with primary responsibilities and requirements to ensure that the plant is operational; safe and with mínimal downtime and waste.

You will work closely with maintenance fitters/electricians and operators to ensure that reliability and safety issues are dealt with in an effective and timely manner enabling the achievement of operational outcomes for the site.

Have the flexibility to work Monday to Friday between 7 am - 5 pm


Responsibilities include:


  • Identifying and resolving equipment reliability and improvement opportunities Assessing and prioritising breakdown service requirements
  • Build on the preventative maintenance strategy, planning and scheduling maintenance of equipment before a problem occurs
  • Demonstrate and promote safe work practices
  • Show a great deal of initiative and be a strong advocate of teamwork
  • Demonstrate competency in the areas of planning, organization, and customer focus
  • Have a strong commitment to document handling procedures, to ensure that all paperwork is completed accurately in a timely manner
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement in maintenance across the site
  • Contribute to work order planning, capacity planning and work prioritization

Experience required:


  • Trade Certified as a Fitter and Turner
  • Experience with preventative maintenance with a High level of technical and diagnostic skills including faultfinding and problem solving
  • Ability to resolve issues on Pneumatic and Hydraulics systems
  • PLC & HMI exposure
  • Identify and introduce improvements in maintenance practices and plant performance
  • Computing skills such as
  • MS Office Suite, CMMS, Lotus Notes experience SAP or Mainplan is highly desirable
  • Understanding of the Machine guarding and Safety Standards & Regulations. (i.e. AS AS4024) is highly advantageous
