Job Details:

Job Summary:
Manages the activities of the hardware and software configuration management groups. Interprets, executes and recommends modifications to applicable procedures.

Coordinates the activities required to support configuration audits Ensures that the performance of the individuals in the group complies with the defined company processes in QMS and makes updates to associated QMS procedures as necessary.

This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs all the duties related to the technical direction of the personnel in the group.
  • Approves configuration management plans in accordance with contract requirements and QMS.
  • Has the responsibility for determining budgets for personnel within the group.
  • Ensures configuration audits are coordinated with program management and customers and is compliant with the contract.
  • Coordinates the preparation of engineering change proposals, deviations and waivers.
  • Establishes and maintains status records of configuration changes.
  • Ensures the effective conduct of Configuration Review/Control Boards (CCB).
  • Performs other managerial functions including determining staffing, tool requirements, and budgets for the group.
  • Trains subordinates in configuration management practices and procedures. Sets performance standards, conducts performance evaluations and salary reviews, and manages hiring, discipline, recognition and termination of group personnel.
  • Establishes work goals and allocates resources within the group. Motivates, delegates, coaches and trains subordinates.
  • Ensures that the Configuration Management Library and the QMS website are properly maintained.
  • Oversees the central files operation for the company, which includes archiving and copying of drawings upon request.
  • Ensures that project support is provided so that projects developing software are managed in compliance with contractual configuration control requirements.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Qualifications:


Essential:

  • Degree, or equivalent, in a technical or business field
Skills/Experience/Knowledge


Essential:

  • 8+ years of experience in technical arena associated with configuration and data management, including supervisory or leadership experience
  • Requires a comprehensive knowledge of drawing release and change control procedures
  • Must be knowledgeable of applicable military, commercial and industrial standards as they pertain to configuration management and documentation
