About this role
As Medical Oncology Fellow you will provide direct medical care to assigned patients under the supervision and guidance of a Senior Staff Specialist appointed.
The Mater Cancer Care Centre (MCCC) includes specialist suites, consultation rooms, cancer care treatment pods, palliative care, support programs and a specialised pharmacy.
The layout of the centre will enable a holistic approach to cancer care all from the one convenient location offering 40 treatment pods, consultation rooms, wellness lounge and Mater Pharmacy.

What you'll be doing
Specific role expectations include (but are not limited to):
- Interview, examine and arrange appropriate investigations and treatments of assigned patients, ensuring actions are properly documented.
- Develop and/or be involved in an oncology research projects.
- Reassess the condition of assigned patients with appropriate regularity depending on their clinical condition.
- Maintain comprehensive, accurate and concise medical records for assigned patients.
- Maintain a close association especially in relation to the care of assigned patients with nursing staff and liaise with clinically appropriate allied health professionals, passing information to and from their Senior Staff Specialist as required.
- Take part in audits, clinical research and quality management initiatives for Cancer Services.
- Undertake administrative clinical duties; maintain high quality patient records under the direction of the Senior Staff Specialist.
About you
To be successful in the role you must have:
- Registration as a medical practitioner without conditions, with APHRA
- Must have FRACP in Medical Oncology or completed at least 2 years of advanced training in medical oncology.
- Clinical skills and abilities are expected, consistent with the level of training in oncology according to the years of experience in the speciality.
- Good communication skills are expected at a primary patient care and interprofessional level.
The successful applicant will have the up-to-date knowledge of clinical medicine and the particular requirements of medicine at a senior registrar level, and have clinical skills and abilities, consistent with the level of training in oncology according to the years of experience in the speciality.
