Food Service Assistants

Casual positions - multiple and with flexibility

About the role

The Food Service Assistants will join our Patient Food Service team at Cabrini Malvern. This position assists with the menu ordering, preparation and service of all food and beverages to our patients.

Casual positions will provide you with the flexibility to suit your lifestyle.

However, applicants need to be prepared to work a variety of shifts across a seven day work week, including day and evening shifts, weekends and public holidays.


Key responsibilities- Assisting patients with menu ordering.- Preparation of food for our patients.- Cleaning of kitchen and equipment.- Providing service to patient rooms and associated areas.- Working with other hospital team members to optimise the safety, care and overall experience of our patients.

About you

Bring your excellent hospitality customer service experience to Cabrini, to support our patients.


You will have- Food Handlers Certificate (or the willingness to undertake at Cabrini).- A valid Working with Children's Permit.- Knowledge of culinary and nutritional terminology including diet codes.- Experience in a food service industry or service industry of at least 12 months will be highly regarded.- A willingness to learn and be given directives.- Well-developed communication skills including proficiency in written and spoken English.- A flexible approach to work and be adaptable in a fast paced environment.- Effective interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to build positive and professional working relationships with patients and colleagues.

Cabrini is a healthcare provider that is captured by the COVID-19 and seasonal influenza vaccination requirements released by the Victorian government.

It is a condition of employment that all staff receive the required vaccines, unless they have a relevant medical exemption.

Vaccination evidence or evidence of a medical contraindication must be provided prior to commencement.

As per Cabrini policy, a mandatory copy of a current (under 12 months) police record check must be provided prior to the commencement date.
