The Role
Are you looking for a unique opportunity to shape the strategic direction of ICT across Defence?

We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join the newly formed ICT Strategy Implementation Office (ICT SIO) as the Assistant Director, ICT Strategy and Planning


You will:

  • Be responsible for the overall coordination of the ICT SIO focusing on effective strategy planning, crossfunctional alignment and coordination of decision making, governance and reporting.
  • Shape the overall strategic planning process and crossfunctional initiatives.
  • Work with stakeholders across Defence to ensure strategic alignment and operational excellence.
  • Be responsible for the assessment of strategic and operational performance, encouraging synergies across the organisation.
  • Develop and review plans to drive forward and execute the ICT strategy, working closely with stakeholders to communicate and embed strategic management practices through aligning and managing accountabilities, and monitoring progress of the strategy.

About our Team

The ICT Strategy Implementation Office is a newly formed function within ICT Strategy Realisation Branch and Chief Technology Officer Division that provides guidance and oversight of the Defence ICT Strategy.


This office is responsible for ICT strategy implementation management, performance reporting and ensuring that ICT initiatives within Chief Information Officer Group are executed and implemented in alignment with the ICT Strategy.


The team has a direct relationship with the whole of Defence including wider Chief Information Officer Group, other Defence Groups and Services and Defence Industry Partners to ensure a One Defence approach to achieving the goals of the ICT Strategy.


You will be an experienced manager and team leader, providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people.


To succeed in this role, you will:

  • Be able to effectively manage competing priorities and produce high quality outcomes in a fastpaced environment.
  • Be an exceptional communicator with experience in influencing internal and external audiences regarding logistics outcomes and implementing change.
  • Facilitate and manage effective reporting to senior leadership that communicates strategic commitments, initiatives, operational performance, and financials.
  • Have welldeveloped strategic and problemsolving skills.
  • Have welldeveloped analytical skills and ability to assess data.
  • Be experienced in implementing and managing governance framework.
