What we are looking for


Commencing May 2023, as the General Manager of Hotels, Events and Guest Experience, you will provide leadership and direction to the Hotel team to achieve business goals in the key areas of guests, team members, organisational and financial performance.

You will lead, coordinate and deliver a comprehensive guest experience and service program that results in the transformation of the guest journey and experience.

Embed guest experience and guest service standards throughout the property to drive consistency and engagement at all levels.

You will also lead the retail strategy and management of retail tenancies and contracts at The Star Sydney and oversee the Events and AV functions.


Key responsibilities in the role include but not limited to:

  • Develop and manage the implementation of business plans, strategies and activities across all business units (ensuring understanding by all Team Members) to achieve increased market share, revenue sales and profit targets.
  • Constantly ensure that your knowledge of the broader hotel and accommodation sector and market trends is up to date.
  • Manage and control the division's labour costs, cost of sales and operating expenses ensuring operational requirements and profit objectives are met.
  • Lead the guest experience transformation program, delivering coordinated and aligned streams of service transformation, guest service and business performance improvement.
  • Develop guest and service focussed plans, inclusive of customer journey mapping, KPI's, policies, processes, systems and standards to drive business focus and align activity.
  • With the Senior Manager Contracts, Supply Chain and Retail, Oversee the management of retail agreements
  • Lead a well considered, coordinated, aligned and profitable retail strategy that aligns with the broader SEG brand
  • Build and lead a productive and effective sales and operational venue wide events strategy that positions the Star as the home of entertainment
  • With the Director Events and Audio Visual, oversee the effective day to day event operations at The Star.

Be your best self

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in a Business-related discipline preferred
  • Lived 5 years plus experience as a General Manager of 5 Star Property
  • Experience in leading professional hospitality teams within large corporate organisations, or site property
