Unigrain is a privately owned company specialising in the manufacture and export of plant-based food and beverage ingredients, with a focus on oat cereal, pulse-based, and animal nutrition products.

More recently the development of their pulse protein and oat milk facilities highlights their continuing drive to innovate and strong focus on the production of high quality and sustainable Australian grown ingredients.

On their behalf, gforce is seeking a highly motivated individual to join their team as a Maintenance Manager at their Smeaton Mill, located in the picturesque Hepburn Shire, only 20 minutes' drive west of Daylesford, and 30 minutes' drive north of Ballarat, Victoria.

About the Role

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for leading the maintenance team to ensure the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of plant, equipment, buildings, and systems, ensuring production quantity and quality is maximised.

Responsibilities:

Leadership:
Supervision of the maintenance team members and allocation of essential maintenance and repair work.

Maintenance Scheduling:

Working closely with the General Manager of Operations and CEOs to plan, you will have the ability to schedule and coordinate maintenance and repair work to be carried out by your team.

Vendor Relations:

Collaborate with external vendors to source of parts and/or equipment as required to carry out repairs and to ensure continuous running of mill equipment.

Training:

Identifying the skills gaps or training requirements for your team and work with management to source relevant training programs.

Continuous Improvement:
Proactively identify maintenance requirements as well as opportunities for process and improvement.

Availability:

Able to work a day shift Monday to Friday and additional hours, as well as out of hours call outs for planned shutdowns or breakdowns.

Hands-on Maintenance: Ability to perform maintenance and repair grading, milling, packaging, and grain handling equipment (oat mill, yard & pulse mill).

Health and Safety:
Uphold and maintain safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures. ensuring to report and OH&S issues to senior management via correct reporting procedures.

Qualifications:

Relevant trade qualifications

Proven experience as a Maintenance Officer within a manufacturing environment.

Proactive and positive attitude.

Excellent verbal communication skills.

Team player with the ability to influence change in a positive manner.
