The Opportunity
We are looking for empathetic and determined individuals to support the continuous delivery of the Territories Stolen Generations Redress Scheme. Positions involve case management, client engagement, liaison, and helpline assistance.

The roles are dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for applicants through responsive client service supported by trauma-informed case management.

This is an exciting and unparalleled chance to contribute to a scheme that will aid in the healing of trauma for Stolen Generations survivors from the Northern Territory, the Australian Capital Territory, and the Jervis Bay Territory during the Commonwealth administration.

The APS 5 Liaison Officer is expected to:

  • Work directly with Stolen Generations survivors in a trauma-informed and culturally safe manner to plan and deliver a personalized acknowledgment by the Commonwealth of each survivor's story of removal from their family and community in a meaningful way (Personal Acknowledgement)

- Aid in monitoring and managing incoming telephone inquiries through an 1800 enquiry line
- Maintain comprehensive case management records, track milestones, and report on Personal Acknowledgements.

In addition, an APS6 Liaison officer must provide staff supervision and training.

Demonstrated experience in similar roles or relevant social work qualifications are advantageous.

All roles involve handling sensitive and confidential information, requiring cultural competency and resilience to address complex matters. Successful applicants may undergo psychometric testing.

- Strong client focus, with the ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals
- Exceptional organizational skills, ability to manage competing priorities, and monitor service delivery
- Strong attention to detail and accountability for work accuracy and quality
- Highly developed customer-focused relationship-building skills incorporating trauma-informed care principles
- Refined interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt communication to suit the audience using culturally appropriate language
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team, be flexible, adaptable, and comfortable in a changing environment
- Willingness to engage in the Branch's Well-being Plan, including learning and development and NIAA cultural programs
- Relevant transferable experience for the position

Some travel may be needed, including to remote locations and small aircraft.
