The Role
The Surface Force Workplace Health and Safety Manager is known within Navy as the Operational Risk & Safety Manager (ORSM) and is responsible for the day to day management of inputs to the Navy Safety Management System for Surface Force.
You will be responsible for monitoring and responding to, all Safety Incident and Hazard reports generated by ships within Surface Force.
You will be responsible for the administration and secretarial roles of a number of Safety Boards, and for providing advice and support to ship's safety personnel and to the Commander of Surface Force.
Other duties can include conducting risk assessments, developing remediation plans and corrective actions, providing advice on specialist safety reports and audits and liaising with internal and external agencies.
About our Team
The Surface Force Safety Team is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of Safety related activities. This includes the provision of advice to managers, delegates, Navy personnel and the CMR, on a range of matters.
These include safety implications, processes to be followed, legislative and Defence requirements and employer/employee responsibilities, and the translating and integration of Fleet policy, guidelines and procedures into cross-platform processes, thus ensuring consistency with relevant legislation and Defence requirements.
