What is the role?


Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Leader - Accounts & Client Services.

Reporting to Coordinator Shared Services, the Team Leader is an integral member of the Shared Services Leadership team.

We are looking for leaders who have relevant experience and a strong interest in:

providing strong leadership to the team and input into the strategic direction of Shared Services and the delivery of outcomes for the AFP
utilising excellent SAP skills to provide support to the team and key stakeholders
assisting with system improvement initiatives and alignment with AFP business needs, legislation and federal government policy and direction
ensuring that the team has the appropriate structure and resources to deliver efficient and effective accounting services to the broader AFP
actively managing and promoting a healthy working environment including embracing diversity, inclusion and respect
building and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships; and


As a Team Leader you also play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual.

Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

The Team Leader works closely with key stakeholders and supports the team to ensure the following services are delivered efficiently and effectively:
accounts payable services including vendor record maintenance, management of invoices for payment, accurate payment runs, monthly reporting and reconciliations
accounts receivable services including customer record maintenance, management of outgoing invoices, receipting, monthly reporting, analysis and reconciliations
debt management including accurate reporting on provisional debt, management of staff salary overpayment recoveries and impaired debtors analysis
treasury services including AFP bank account management, international payments, maintain daily cash requirements, monthly reporting, analysis and reconciliations.
Essential Requirements

You must be an Australian Citizen.
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in financial accounting; including the Commonwealth resource management framework, treasury operations, accounts payable, accounts receivable and debt management.

Demonstrated experience in using the relevant modules in the SAP system.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team.

Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver outcomes.

Well-developed conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present information in a concise and articulate manner.
Desirable Requirements

Tertiary qualifications in relevant field.
Extensive experience and knowledge in the use of Microsoft product suite, specifically Microsoft Teams and Excel.
