Overview:
This role is responsible for ensuring the ongoing system and procedural compliance and governance of the departments production, superannuation, taxation, reconciliation, disbursements and systems configuration.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide operational and strategic leadership to maintain a culture or teamwork, achievement, accountability with an outcomesbased focus.
- Ensuring the accuracy of fortnightly payrolls, as well as their compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Preparing and maintaining important payroll reports including the preparation of salary advice and single touch payroll.
- Develop, implement and manage the payroll risk and governance framework to ensure payroll is run without creating areas of exposure from a workforce and governing bodies perspective.
- Provide expert payroll, super and tax advice to stakeholders and senior management.
- Establish and monitor whether effective systems for internal control are implemented across the payroll and income protection functions and determining the extent to which these controls have been complied with as part of ongoing management and monitoring of payroll expenditure.
- Lead the development of change management involving new systems, processes and procedures buy identifying best practice and adopting industry standards and reform.
- Regular contact with internal and external stakeholders regarding current payroll legislative and accounting obligations, the currently of policies and procedures which reflect these obligations, definition of payroll roles and responsibilities to support sound payroll controls and practice, proactive advice to management, monitoring the key performance and compliance of the payroll management system, provision of assurance reports regarding the payroll governance and compliance function.
Key Experience Required
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Payroll accounting.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with payroll and employment legislation, regulations and awards.
- Experience taking the lead and managing a team.
- Stakeholder engagement skills.
- SAP experience.
- Government experience desired.
