The Position

This position is associated with an ARC Discovery Grant awarded to Prof Alex Maier and colleagues, titled "Targeting the host lipid environment to disrupt malaria transmission".

The transmission of malaria parasites is crucial for their survival and dissemination, and the parasites encounter completely different environments upon the transition from human to the mosquito host.

Using cell biological, biochemical and reverse genetics approaches, this project will identify micronutrients essential for transmission, and will investigate their uptake and storage.

The Postdoctoral Fellow conducts experiments and provides comprehensive support on a diverse range of research activities.

These activities are primarily in the areas of generating and maintaining parasite cell line in culture, but also parasite genetics, flow cytometry, imaging and lipid and protein biochemistry.

The Person
We are looking for a research scientist with a background in molecular parasitology or lipid biochemistry. Experience with reverse genetics (particularly CRISPR/Cas9 technologies) and/or lipid analysis, is ideal but not essential.
