The NSW Government is investing $8.6 billion over the next 4 years, continuing its program to deliver 160 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW.
_Our client is currently looking to engage a Design Manager experienced in Urban Design within Education Projects for an initial 12 month contract, with a strong likelihood to extend._
Overview of the Project:
Universal Pre-Kindergarten is the centrepiece of the Department of Education's Early Years Commitment is the NSW Government's investment of $5.8 billion to introduce a new universal pre-Kindergarten year in the year before primary school, for every child by the end of the decade.
We will run pilots in selected locations to help us understand the best ways to introduce universal pre-Kindergarten by the end of the decade, in 2030.
The creation of this team is an important step forward to realise this and support the existing planning team with work across the state.
With the creation of a new team for a new program of work, the opportunity also includes process refinement and improvement.
_Primary purpose of the role_
Lead and coordinate the interactions across SINSW directorates in respect of educational and built form design considerations and principles, to ensure they are integral to the development of business cases facilitating the delivery of education excellence aligned to contemporary pedagogical practices.
\_Key accountabilities_
- Foster highly productive working relationships with internal stakeholders, external agencies, the design fraternity and educationists, and actively contribute to shared knowledge and expertise to build corporate knowledge and commitment towards achieving the department's property and facilities initiatives.
- Provide expert advice that facilitates the development of design specifications for new forms of facilities including consideration of both asset and nonasset solutions.
- Provide input and make recommendations for improvement to ensure that built facilities are designed and constructed to enhance learning and teaching and are efficient to manage.
- Manage and undertake research and make recommendations that support the delivery of design excellence, value for money, sustainability, adaptability and flexibility. Research areas include building materials and products, construction methods, design innovations, landscape and outdoor environments for learning.
- Provide timely, accurate and customerfocused advice in response to requests for information about the Educational Facilities Standards and Guidelines (EFSG) system, including official report and briefing preparation and professional learning activities for users.
_Key knowledge and experience_
- Knowledge of, and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
_Essential requirements_
- Relevant architectural qualifications and workplace experience in architecture, design, construction or a related field
