The Opportunity:
MMA Offshore has an opportunity for a
Geophysicist to join our Subsea Services Survey division.
Reporting to the Survey Technical Manager, this role will perform offshore geophysical data acquisition, QC and processing of geophysical data sets from various sensor types.
This is a full-time permanent position based in our Perth CBD office, Western Australia, with offshore travel as required.Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with the Operations Manager, Survey Manager, Project Manager, CAD/GIS Coordinator, Workshop Personnel and Survey team to assist in preparing geophysical equipment for offshore deployment.
- Mobilise on vessels geophysical sensors that include (but are not limited to) sub‐bottom profilers, sidescan sonars, magnetometers and all associated interfacing and calibration.
- Maintain thorough QC of highquality data and acquisition logs offshore.
- Process and interpret data according to the project scope utilising a range of industry standard software packages.
- Compile reports to clients outlining all geophysical data and interpretations relevant to the client's requirements, integrated with any other engineering, hydrographic and geological background information.
- Stay abreast of the latest geophysical equipment, software and processing techniques and how these can contribute to the continual development and refinement of internal processes and workflows.
Qualifications and skills:
- Completion of at least a Bachelor of Science Degree, specifically Geology or Geophysics, or equivalent
- Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable)
- Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (desirable)
- Valid CSTP and/or TBOSIET or equivalent (desirable)
Essential Experience:
years offshore field experience, including experience with mobilising vessels
- Proficient use of Coda software and hardware, SonarWiz, Oasis Montaj
- Proficient use of SonarWiz software
- Proficient experience in geotechnical sampling including; piston coring & grab sampling
- Experience with Oasis Montaj software
- Familiar with EdgeTech Discover acquisition software
- Experience with AutoCAD software
- Can work as a leader and member of a team
- Capable of building and sustaining effective relationships
- Report writing experience
- Excellent communication skills
