About the role:


The Water Corporation is seeking a Principal - Project Accounting, responsible for delivering and maintaining an efficient and effective finance and administration function within the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Project (ASDP) Alliance to manage and lead all aspects of the finance function.

The Principal - Project Accounting is a key member of the Alliance Management Team and will work closely with the Alliance Manager.

What the role will involve:
  • Manage and lead the finance function and provide expert advice to the Alliance management teams
  • Establish and promote positive and productive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure the effective preparation and monitoring of cash flow and project costs.
  • Develop and provide regular financial management and accounting reports and statements including annual financial closure of the Alliance.
  • Validate and prepare Progress Claims and ensure monthly claims submitted to the Water Corporation are consistent with the financial ledger and verify costs claimed by the Alliance partner for inclusion in the Progress Claims to the Water Corporation.
  • Prepare accounts and returns in accordance with statutory requirements while maintaining alignment with both Alliance Partner' and Corporation's reporting requirements.
  • Manage taxation issues including compliance and submission of BAS Returns to ATO while maintaining alignment with both Alliance Partner' and Corporation's requirements.
  • Monitor Project financial performance, to ensure financial information is presented to the Alliance Lead Team and Water Corporation are verified by the Finance Manager.
  • Create and maintain an Asset Register for tools, equipment, and materials not part of the financial fixed asset register, and management of the asset disposal process.
  • Act as principal point of contact for any audit or review required by any of the Alliance participants and provides the necessary information requested by the auditor.
  • Maintain a suitable framework to reduce risk associated with Forex exposure and to provide information to the Corporation to enable foreign exchange transactions to be appropriately hedged.

Key skills and experience:

***- You will have a degree level qualification in accounting or finance or approved equivalent

  • You will have demonstrated experience in project management and seeking external project funding.
  • You will have substantial commercial financial and project accounting experience in a large capitalintensive engineering infrastructure / construction environment.
  • You will have sound technical skills across the range of major financial management and accounting functions reporting, budgeting, treasury, taxation, managerial accounting.
  • You will have considerable experience with computerised financial systems.
  • You will have relevant experience in budgeting and financial management.
