  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively maintain the school gardens and grounds and to undertake general maintenance tasks.
  • Demonstrated keen interest in undertaking new plantings and pruning and to follow a landscape plan to maintain the school¿s garden beds.
  • With supervision and training capacity to use plant equipment and a sound understanding of safe work practices.
  • Proven ability to follow instructions and to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and show initiative.

Role:


Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Grounds person will work in a small team to maintain the general appearance of the school grounds, including garden maintenance, mowing and yard sweeping.

The successful applicant will have the capacity to undertake minor maintenance tasks, including repairs to toilets, fixtures and fittings, moving of furniture etc.

This is an entry level position, previous experience is not required.

This is a full-time position, and the hours of work will generally be 8.00am to 4.06pm. Attendance will be required throughout the holiday periods.

The annual salary for this position is $66, This includes a regular leave purchase allowance paid fortnightly, along with an entitlement to 4 weeks annual leave, usually taken during the school holiday period.


There is an annual increment in salary along with an award increase in salary twice a year until July 2025.


Responsibilities:


  • Under the direction of the Facilities Manager follow a works schedule for the College¿s grounds
  • Provide care and maintenance of the school grounds, including maintenance of the school's gardens and new plantings in line with the school's landscape plan.
  • Maintain and mow the schoolground as part of a regular cycle of maintenance
  • Poison weeds around the school grounds and buildings, as required
  • Assist the school in maintaining a clean environment by collecting rubbish around the school grounds
  • Supervise the collection of rubbish with Yard Duty students on a daily basis.
  • Remove graffiti and chewing gum as directed.
  • Closing locker bays at the end of the day.
  • Undertake minor maintenance tasks as requested by the Facilities Manager.
  • Other duties as directed by Facilities Manager, Principal and Business Manager
