u&u Recruitment Partners is excited to partner with the iconic Liebherr Australia to recruit an exciting executive leadership opportunity within the company's mining division.

With a history spanning more than 50 years and more than 50,000 employees, this family-owned company is credited with the creation of the world's first tower crane in 1949.

Fast forward to the present day, and the company has a diverse product and service offering across 13 product divisions, some of which include refrigeration, construction machines, mining equipment, mobile cranes, and aerospace & transportation systems, to name a few.

The role


Reporting to the Managing Director - Mining, the Executive General Manager - Customer Support (Mining) is responsible for leading a large, geographically dispersed team and achieving financial and operational objectives across the Customer Support function, which includes parts, service, and technical support.


Key areas of focus include:

Providing leadership, guidance, and support to a team of Regional and General Managers;
Building close working relationships with key influencers from major customers to understand and align organizational goals;
Continuously reviewing the Customer Support function to ensure the structure can support customers and the organisation's ongoing growth;
Manage the P&L for the Customer Support and Technical Service functions;
Oversee and encourage succession planning and continuously building internal capability;
Plan, implement and monitor continuous improvement initiatives;
Supporting and overseeing adherence to the organisation's Quality Management System; and

Overseeing and driving health and safety processes and objectives.

Required Experience

Previous experience in a similar senior leadership role, either with a major mining equipment OEM, major contractor or mine operator;
A deep understanding of heavy mining equipment, parts, service and technical support areas;
Strong people leadership skills, coupled with a "hands on" style and the ability to tailor your approach and message to all levels;
A strategic mindset with the ability to innovate and drive continuous improvement;
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with a with a wide range of customers and stakeholders;
Strong commercial, negotiation and problem solving skills; and

Formal tertiary business or engineering qualifications would be highly regarded, as would post graduate qualifications.
