About the Opportunity:

We are building a $500 million glass manufacturing and remanufacturing facility in Yatala just south of Brisbane.

The factory represents the large investment we have ever made, we recycle up to 200,000 tonnes of Queensland's glass annually to produce 1 billion bottles a year.

We are building next to our box factory and beverage can plan, this will create a beverage container precinct to further support of customers and a range of new career pathways for our staff.

The project is expected to be operational in 2025.

As a Construction Manager you will work closely with the project manager and the design team.

Your role will involve leading the construction project team, will directing and coordinating the site construction engineers, superintendents, supervisors, safety advisers and quality inspectors.


You will play a key role in thinking through the sequencing of activities required to ensure that the right people are working on the correct activities at the right time to deliver our program of work in the most efficient manner possible.

You will manage multiple interfaces including the scheduling of trades, electrical instrumentation & control along interacting with other providers and stakeholders.


Responsibilities:


  • Project leadership for the construction commercial process, working closely with the Project Manager and the VISY legal and procurement teams. This will involve identification, assessment, and management of the primary contracting companies through the commercial process up to contract award.
  • Review design and delegate the build design packages ready for daily and weekly SIMPOS.
  • Oversee the permit and HSE processes to ensure zones of work and influence are managed, coordinated, and set you for sequence of delivery.
  • Managing the program of work to arrive at the most efficient pathways. You'll use platforms like 4D solutions and 3D scanning to support decision making.
  • Permitting approval processes, especially the early identification of approval and execution risks, and any related cost exposure as a result.
  • Leadership in providing a safe work environment, that minimizes the risk of injury and that fully meets internal Visy requirements and external regulatory requirements.
  • Providing mentorship and technical advice to the project team and wider site management.
  • Manage your team to deliver against outputs and project targets, deliverables, and budgets.
  • Assist with the development of the Construction Management Plan. Assist with weekly and monthly reviews, project forecasts, financial management and claims validation.

Your Experience:


  • Extensive experience delivering construction projects to the value of $200 Millon and above within civil infrastructure or similar. Experience in manufacturing or major infrastructure projects would be an advantage.
  • Civil / construction / structural Tertiary qualifications.
  • Minimum 15 years relevant project experience.
  • Large project commercial management experience.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in a construction execution environment.
  • Greenfield project experience from concept to closure.
  • Design expertise. 2D and 3D design and model experience.
  • Regulatory and permitting process knowledge and experience.
