About the Opportunity:


The Nuclear Medicine Maintenance team is responsible for ensuring that the Nuclear Medicine plant and systems achieves optimum performance and reliability through robust maintenance and continuous improvement practices.

The work of the maintenance team is also key to ensuring ongoing compliance with safety, regulatory and GMP requirements.

Together with the other department in the division the maintenance team ensures Safe, Secure and Sustainable supply of nuclear medicine to the Australian Public.

The Nuclear Medicine Maintenance team are seeking a talented mechanical technician to join an established, multidisciplinary team of technicians. The role offers a long view opportunity as the team works to maintain performance within the nuclear medicine facilities at ANSTO

This role involves shift work, day shifts only plus approx. two half weekends per month

Your Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Undertake reactive maintenance work for breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner by liaising directly with clients to investigate, identify and provide solutions for problems relevant to discipline.
  • Escalate complex maintenance issues that cannot be resolved to relevant Maintenance Supervisor and/or Engineer for guidance.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance of plant and equipment relevant to discipline in accordance with approved procedures to contribute to OPAL reactor safety and reliability.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment relevant to discipline and report any identified issues.

Skills and Experience

  • Trade qualification in Mechanical trade (Fitter & Machining)
  • Relevant industrial experience in maintenance of plant and equipment in Mechanical maintenance,
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment is desirable.
