Vardir provides a range of services geared towards our clients and supporting Aboriginal Corporations known as Prescribed Body Corporate (PBC)s.

A PBC is the corporate entity established to represent a Traditional Owner group in business matters, such as future acts, ILUA negotiations and cultural heritage.

The PBC is the first point of contact for government and other parties (for example, mining companies) who wish to talk with the native title holders or undertake activities on native title land.

We are seeking a Indigenous Engagement and Support Officer to join our team. You will work closely with and support our clients to manage their business.

Working within a small multidisciplinary team you will provide governance and organisation support, conduct field research and assist in delivery of meetings for clients and some PBCs.


Whilst you will be working from home or based at our Noranda Office, the role involves regular travel to remote areas in WA for field work.

Vardir is looking for the right person with the right fit for this role. Any additional qualifications in science fields will be highly desirable. On the job training will be provided.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Experience working directly with Aboriginal people, particularly in remote communities.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clear information to clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong time management skills with an ability to work on multiple projects/meetings simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • The ability to work effectively and communicate with numerous small teams.
  • Analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Report writing experience.
  • Experience in dealing with sensitive and challenging public enquiries by telephone and face to face.
  • Demonstrated selfmotivation with initiative.
  • Current and unrestricted manual driver's licence.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICIATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Current Senior First Aid Training.
  • Current 4WD Training.
  • Qualification in Anthropology, Archaeology, Botany, Ecology, Zoology or similar

Before an offer of employment can be made, Vardir requires a National Police Clearance, no older than 6 months; evidence of an unrestricted manual driver's license; and proof of qualifications and certifications.
